Flutter Invites Startups to Participate in New Tech and Safer Gambling Campaign

Flutter Tech 4 Good Award & Play Well ChallengeSummary:

  • Flutter aims to work with tech startups in creating a positive future for society
  • This is in line with the gaming group’s Positive Impact Plan
  • Applications for Tech4Good and Play Well close on August 18 and September 8, respectively

Flutter Entertainment has launched a new initiative targeting startups focused on responsible gambling. It involves two programmes, the “Tech4Good Award” and the “Play Well Challenge”, which form part of Flutter’s Positive Impact Plan.

Shaping a Positive Future for Society

Connor Lynch, Flutter Entertainment Chief Innovation Officer, said the programme, which is open to early-stage gaming firms specializing in responsible gambling, coincides with Flutter’s expertise in technology and is aimed at supporting newly-established companies that develop innovative systems to strengthen player protection. The main goal of the initiative is to help “shape a positive future for society” as per Flutter’s press release.

The Tech4Good Award aims to shine the spotlight on technology and its role in addressing major social issues. Meanwhile, the Play Well Challenge, run in collaboration with the Responsible Gambling Council, focuses on providing solutions to real-world problems faced by the gambling industry, with the ultimate goal of creating a safer gambling environment for players.

Shelley White, CEO of Responsible Gambling Council, said Flutter’s new initiative can drive real change in responsible gambling, ultimately providing a safer gambling experience for millions of people.

The Tech4Good Award and Play Well programmes are facilitated by the Alpha Hub, Flutter’s global innovation community comprised of startups, academics, and corporate partners.

Interested companies have until August 18, 2023 to apply for the Tech4Good Award, while those keen on participating in the Play Well Challenge must submit their applications on or before September 8, 2023.

The two programmes support Flutter’s Positive Impact Plan which has two major objectives – the first is helping communities to do more. To achieve this goal, the group will work on improving the lives of 10 million people across the globe through various initiatives by the end of 2030.

The second objective of the Positive Impact Plan is all about helping customers to play well. Flutter will strive to get 75% of its online customer base to use Play Well tools, including deposit limit and activity statements, by 2030.

Flutter Continues to Work with Startups

This isn’t the first time that the gaming group is partnering with startups in improving its gaming offerings and promoting safer gambling. In May 2022, Flutter opened a recruitment drive for entrepreneurs to enhance Paddy Power’s retail services.

Successful applicants were allowed to participate in paid proof of concept trails across Paddy Power shops throughout the UK and Ireland.
